Personality: He could be a bit...out there, but he's totally harmless. He loves people and hates to be rude to anyone (excluding tatsuya *shot*). Half of the time, Hani's pretty amiable and lovable, but the other half of him could also be exasperating and mystified. He's a naive kid, who tries to do the right thing without screwing up.

History:
Years ago before the Kami Trio War and the merge of the villages, Hani was born in a quiet Icy desert in Ice Bay Village. He was the sunshine of his parents eyes, melting their very hearts with his dimpled smile. He didn't get to see much of his father...his father, Hyosuke, was a samurai. A high ranked samurai, who married a commoner, an Altaria named, Anemone, Hani's mother. This marriage between the two was clandestine. He was arranged to be wedded by another woman from a higher ranked samurai family. It would be dishonorable to his family if he refused to be married into such a high ranking class...especially if they learned that he was already married to a commoner. They both resided in different Villages. Anemone stayed in Ice bay and Hyosuke in Fire Field. Whenever he could find the excuse to leave his village, he would visit his family for as long as he is able. Hyosuke was always on missions, leading platoons of samurai soldiers, travelling abroad and engaging in battles.

Hyosuke wasn't fond of the idea of torture and needless killings. He witnessed people being killed because they weren't able to pay their taxes...rebels...who were only just children...he realized that they were gaining nothing but dead bodies. He came to this realization while fighting another samurai who tried to take the life of a farmer who couldn't pay his taxes on time and nearly got himself killed because of it, but instead he took his life. Watching the man die from his blade...his friend, his best friend, he wanted to be something better. To follow a moral code of principles...the way of the samurai; bushido.

Soon after that incident, Hani was able to see his father more often. He was happy, he was naive, he was young. They got to be a family, although, Hani wasn't able to see the sadness in his fathers eyes behind his cheery smile that at the time only his mother could see. Though it would only last for a short while, at times his father would go off on long journeys that would take months at a time or even a whole year. Hani would cling to his father's leg begging him to stay--or to even consider taking him along, but the answer was always no. He wished that he were older. Stronger. Bigger. Then maybe he could go off on journeys with his father, he knew that it would've been an amazing experience. He loved his father and at the same time, hated him for leaving them all the time...well not necessarily hate him, but....the feeling of being left behind was what he hated...and waiting.

Hani was five years old when Hyosuke returned home, making it on time to celebrate his birthday, bringing home gifts for the family from his journey. He seemed a lot more happier and promised that he wouldn't be going on any more trips anytime soon. Hani was a curious and inquisitive child, dishing out many questions that he felt he needed to know. It was pretty annoying because Hani had to know EVERYTHING. What's this, what's that? How come? Why's that? Who? Where? When? Why not? How? But they were all answered...well most of them...some were...questions that he had to wait for till he got older, or some where too difficult to explain to him for him to comprehend. But the one question that took Hyosuke aback was about the scar along his eyes. Well, it didn't surprise him that Hani asked this question, but it was something he didn't like to speak about. He was lucky that he didn't lose that left eye of his though...well it wouldn't have mattered since he is blind in that eye. That scar was a reminder of his dishonor to his family, a reminder that he could never return for what he's done and what he tried to hide. That question was never answered.

It was winter, a bitter cold winter and an arrow hit their door with a message intact. Hani couldn't understand what it was for, but he knew it was something bad judging by the grave look it gave to his father, though it only lasted a second. The following week, Hyosuke left before the sun could rise. Hani was awake at that time from using the bathroom. When he noticed his father gone, He suited up and followed after him in the bitter cold. He followed his fathers trail and it felt like he was on a journey. A long tiring journey. He fell to his knees shivering, he really felt like crying, but he didn't. It was tough, but he didn't want to give up yet. Then he heard clashing swords. It sounded like a fight. He quickly got up to his feet and ran to the source, calling out his fathers name. That...distracted Hyosuke, which got him killed.

Hani made it to the top of the hill, panting from lose of breath, but then he froze stiff. He saw it all, he saw the strange looking blade leave his father's body, the crimson blood splattering into the snow, his father falling, and the cloaked man...Who looked directly at Hani from the bottom of the hill. Their gaze lasted for a short while, though it felt longer than that to Hani. Hani was frozen stiff out of fear and confusion to what he just witnessed. It took him a while to register it all. The strange cloaked man left without notice and Hani laid over his slain father, never leaving his side until a passing logger found them nearly buried under the snow.

Additional info:
